and I saved the best for last. Please scroll down.
This was too good to resist after reading John's column on rejection a few weeks ago and Dixon's last week.
Welcome. Please feel free to comment.
Our corporate secretary is notoriously lax when it comes to comments trapped in the spam folder. It may take Velma a few days to notice, usually after digging in a bottom drawer for a packet of seamed hose, a .38, her flask, or a cigarette.
She’s also sarcastically flip-lipped, but where else can a P.I. find a gal who can wield a candlestick phone, a typewriter, and a gat all at the same time? So bear with us, we value your comment. Once she finishes her Fatima Long Gold.

Fran, thanks for another morning laugh.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments. I hesitated to do this, but once in a while, I feel the need to lighten the mood. This is one of those days. I chose these from some of my favorites. My favorite of these is the one about the recipes and the editor and publisher. I also collect jokes and "Little Johnny" stories about teaching, but we'll save those for later.
ReplyDeletelol funny. I think that means laughing out loud.
ReplyDeleteFunny stuff. These remind me of a cartoon I saw long ago:
ReplyDeleteTwo men sit in conversation, facing each other across a desk. Both are wearing peculiar, out-dated clothing, circa 19th century England. A stack of papers is visible atop the desk, along with a desk ornament that reads "Editor."
The editor is speaking to the other man: "Make up your mind, Mr. Dickens. It could be the best of times or the worst of times, but surely it could not be both."
Wonderful! As they say on the Internet: "LOL!"
